I'll never understand so many people that walk through their life so narcissistic, so disdainful of everything. Every movie sucks, all new music is lame to you and you refuse to laugh until other people laugh. You only read the eccentric and mundane, refuse anything mainstream and wear what others deem weird. You try to be different, non-conformist, dark. But inside you're the biggest conformist of them all aren't you? Trying to be cooler than everyone else so you don't slip between the cracks.
Or maybe. Maybe I do understand. And that's the problem.

Some people can't get over themselves, and that entails making themselves somehow superior. Yeah, it's dumb. But we all have some ways of making ourselves feel "better" than the rest. For you and i, my friend it's our enormous intellectual capability.
ReplyDeleteYou know you've done it. Some egregious grammatical error, and suddenly you're so much better than that sadly illiterate person. I've done it before.
Fortunately, we are able to keep a handle on the monster of pride.
Others have little or nothing to find pride in, and need to make things up... then take it too far. Sad for them, really.
